today was my lastday at mariner middle school and i will forever remember the fun i had there. Also the many friends i made. I will never forget the great teachers i have had over the years. I am greteful to have the chance to be in mrs. Albanesse’s class. I miss miss everyone and the fun we had !!
I did my interview on my great-grandmother. Her name is Juanita Ames, She was born 1923. She is a resident of Lewes, Delaware. My great-grandmother Juanita was born in Saratocan,North Carolina. She was around when segregation was a big issue. She is Indian, White, Black, and Korean. Even though her skin color is a high yellow and she could pass for Mixed. She had African American ancestors which made her have to go to the African American school.
Some of her family members didn’t like her because of the way she looked. A young girl with long black hair, a high yellow completion with a tint, and light brown eyes. Growing up she had to work with her mother in the cotton fields, she lived on a farm so they raised there own animals and grew tabbaco, other vegtables, and fruits. They werent very poor growing up. They build there own homes and living quarters for the animals.
When she turned 15 her mother moved to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware and bought a nice property. Sad an unexpected her mother had passed leaving my g-mom Juanita with a close family friend. This family friend treated her very nice and took good care of her. At the age of 16 my grandmother was pregnant with her 1st child my great aunt Daisy. Then a few years later came Donald, Leroy, Leon, Bo, John, Brenda, Peggy, Mary, George Ames Jr. (Butch), Carolyn. In the mist of having all these kids within a 4 year spread she had to drop out of high school.
Right after John the 2nd oldest was born the lady who was taking care of my grandmother passed. Making hard times even harder. My grandmother was working 3 jobs. She was working at the Avenue Restaurant in downtown Rehoboth Beach, the Sand Castle motel, and maid service when she had free time. Her kids and her never forgot where they came from and the struggles there mother went through.
They visited South Carolina a lot. After my great uncle George Ames Jr. (Butch) was born she married my late Great-grandfather George Ames Sr. Her 3rd husband who had now passed away sadly. She now lives in Lewes, Delaware with her dog Tamone. She still is close to her family and I visit her every day. Being as though she lives right next door to me in a nice pink house. She loves telling me stories about her past and childhood, and I love listening to them.

- My mommy- I am happy that I have her in my life and that she is always there for me whenever I need her no matter when or the issue.
- My Daddy- I am extremely grateful for my dad because he is also always there for me no matter what. I have met a few famous people, and traveled a lot of places. He’s the reason I know how to get from here to Jersey, New York, and Philly.
- Kayla- (my sister) I am very thankful for my sister even though she can be a pain I lover very much, and will always be a big sister and look out for her as much as I can.
- My Best Friends (Tynia, Jamia, Kaitlyn, and others.) – I am extremely thankful for my friends all of them. They always have my back and don’t act fake. They tell me when something’s wrong and when I make a mistake, and don’t talk about me behind my back. I can count on them and the 3 names listed in parentheses are the ones I trust the most.
- My grandparents- My grandparents are extremely helpful and supportive. They give me anything I need to help me out and succeed.
- My teachers- I am thankful for all my teachers along the years who helped me out in succeeding to each grade, without them I wouldn’t be in 8th grade today.
- Kiandra- My big cousin she is so helpful, fun and is always there. She’s the 1st person I would go to if I had a problem to help me out. Even if it was the most outrages thing I could trust and count on her to help me out and point me in the right direction.
- My aunt Carolyn – She Is just amazing. She has always been there and came to all the important events in my life. I lived with her for 4 years in North Jersey. It was very fun she put me in private school and gave me a very good start on life. I will never forget the great things she’s done for me and how much it must have took away from her business which she named after me Déjà Transport.
- My dog Tamone- I love Tamone so much. I used to have a little dog named tiny but unfortunately 2 years ago she died and is no longer with us. Tamone is very old and. We had him for about 15 years and by now as I am sure you can figure he is more than a dog he is a part of our family.
- Music- Without music my dad wouldn’t have a job. I also like music because it gives me something to listen to and dance to. I am thankful for that.
- The mall- I am very, extremely, Greatly, thankful for the mall. Without the mall I have no where to shop with a lot of stores without going outside. I can go and shop a lot have fun and nit have to go outside.
People who like textures, cool designs, and like to watch fashion shows, or just simple looking through a magazine. At the fashion done by some of the worlds most famous and well known designers or just a local designer should be interested in fashion and designs. Studding and observing fashion helps people with their confidence and self esteem because when designing no one can tell you what you should or shouldn’t do only what they think about it in the end. This shouldn’t matter that much either because as long as you like it and your ok with it then you should be happy. Designing helps express yourself, because you can put anything on there.
Say I felt very strong about the war and I wanted peace. I can make a tie die shirt and put peace signs on it. Expressing my thoughts about the war. It helps boost your confidence levels because you have to be very comfortable with yourself and have pride in your work. It all starts with you. If you don’t have pride in your work and think very little of yourself then what do you think others would think? Most likely the same, so having confidence and pride is very important and it’s ok if you’re a little shaky the first time just work harder and remember try again and don’t give up.
Creating new designs and knowing the latest fashion can get you a long way. It helps especially when looking for that right shirt at the right price. When in a store you know ok well this is a Crocodile Embossed Satchel. A very stylish handbag that you can get over the internet or at the Giorgio Armani store for $1,450. But a local retailer has it on sale for $995.
You think oh! This is a very good sale but when you remember all the fashion textures and how they are suppose to look and feel and you notice that the embroider of the bag is ripped, the inside is poorly stitched ,and there is no seal stating it’s an original. So you’re not getting the real thing but it’s a good look alike appearance and is cheaper. Now not having any experience you wouldn’t have known that, and bought it. So that is why I believe you should take some interest in fashion

How Driver License Laws need to change.
One of the biggest problems in the U.S today is the recklessness of drivers today. From the elderly driving to slow to the youth driving too fast and out of control. Have you ever been riding in the car with someone, and you’re cruising then an old man (women) pulls out in front of you and they go slow? Sometimes below the speed limit! This is where our problems begin not only is it illegal to drive over the speed limit it is illegal to drive under the speed limit.
It may cause accidents, and hold up traffic. Sometimes they may forget and leave there signal light on. This may be misleading for the drivers behind them who may think the car is turning or switching lanes. I personally believe that Citizens over 60 (elderly) should take the driving test again. I also believe that at 80 you shouldn’t be allowed to drive.
My reasoning against driving at 60 is that I think that some people may forget how to parallel park. Or about the rule no passing on a dotted line and many more. Taking the driving test again would be like refresher for people at 60. There are a lot of elderly drivers that most likely wouldn’t pass the driver’s test again. Then you have the people who do remember the rules and do excellent.
80 Is a substantial age to stop driving maybe even before then because there are plenty of other ways of transportation such as DART. Also family members who can transport them back and forth from the doctors and other important events they need to attend its affordable and safe. This will stop a lot of accidents and help the elderly at the same time. This is a big issue. I am sure a lot of people will like to get to their destination safe and sound.
But unfortunately because of these driving issues this isn’t always the case. The elderly can go to any DMV and retake the test. As long as they have had their driving licenses. Have no traffic violations, or fines, and have no medical issues. Such as eye problems or bad legs, hands.
This doesn’t mean that I think all elderly people shouldn’t drive I just believe that every once in a while you find that one person who falls asleep at the wheel, or leaves there signal light on for half a mile, or does a U-turn were it says in bold letters NO U-TURNS. This is the problem that would make driving on the road a whole lot better.
These are my reasoning’s for the changing of the driving laws. How peaceful the road would be now this won’t stop the road rage and illegal driving, and DUI’s but its one step closer. It will help stop the slow drivers and ones who tend to fall asleep and swerve into the wrong lane. There is plenty of transportation for the elderly so they won’t get stuck at home or with no way to get from the doctors or dentist. This is just one step to making the world a better place.
Fashion is more than a way to dress it’s a way of life for me. I love looking at different fashions and how the designers were inspired, such as the wonderful places of the world New York, Paris, Milan. Giorgio Armani is a very good designer. I especially love his Crocodile Embossed Satchel. A very stylish handbag that you can get over the internet or at the store for $1,450. His style is very unique just like him I have read about him and his fashion ideas and what inspires him. He has a very professional, sleek, revealing type of style.
It is very interesting to admire his fashion shows like the one he had in Spring/Summer 2010 line Thursday ,Sept 24 in Milan, Italy. It had a very good match of fabric and textures. I enjoy looking at the designs and will be looking forward for the 2010 collection. In addition to Giorgio Armani another fabulous designer is Carmen Marc Valvo. Carmen Marc Valvo’s designs have been known to be seen on the world’s most gorgeous women, such as Princess Madeleine of Sweden, Queen Latifah, Beyonce, Katie Couric, Leona Lewis, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Vanessa Williams, Kate Winslet, Eva Longoria, and Mary J. Blige just to name a few.
Also seen in films such as Confessions of a Shopaholic. Carmen takes great pride in his creations. His unique style is what draws people to his clothes. He has mastered the fine technique of draping the fabric so it helps show off the physical famine features. He likes to make every lady feel asthough she is a light of the room when she enters. Valvo grew up in a traditional Spanish-Italian family in Westchester County, New York. That’s were he got his inspiration and also from his early interest in oil paints.
He would make all his sisters costumes for school projects. He is a very good artist and designer. My favorite collection is his CARMEN MARC VALVO Couture 2009 collection. My favorite piece of his is the Ottoman Stripe Cocktail Dress in Straw. This is very nice and fit for any occasion it will run you about $321. You can get that on the website or in the store. By the way you can find a lot of Carmen’s designs in Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdales, Nordstrom’s, Bergdorf Goodman, and countless other specialty stores nationally and internationally.
Another designer I adore is Christian Dior. I love the new Lady Dior line. The bags are phenomenal. I also love the clothes they are very well planed and thought out. I really like the style they used, the furs and the way he used them. There’s not too much that I know about him but my mother has a ton of his glasses, and purses.
Omg were do I start with this designer Donatella Versace. She’s known for her slinky cuts, and over the top reaveling. You have to love it all she has had some of the most famous clients Madonna, Elton John, Camilla Parker-Bowles, Elizabeth Hurley, Princess Diana, Christina Aguilera just to name a few. The Versace look is all about the body plunging necklines, slits, short skirts. Donatella has said once herself “Never pass up leathers, sheer fabrics, beads or sequins or glitter these are hallmark, you need that look-at-me components!”
Donatella Versace is just amazing. My favorite piece of hers well wow I don’t know because she has a lot of great things to choice from. But I would have to say the runway collection ’10 that was just amazing the bright yellow dresses I loved them. So now you know a little bit more about these fashion designers and just how amazing the fashion world can truly be.
